FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. My headlights are foggy and make it difficult to see at night. Do I have to replace them?

A. No, they do not have to be replaced. We offer Headlight Reconditioning where we replace the damaged laminate that covers the lamp. This is a great option because clouded headlights can make it difficult to see at night, as well as keep your vehicle from passing state inspection.

Q. I was just recently in a car accident and my car was hit pretty badly. If I schedule my repair with you, how soon could you start on it and how long will it take to be fixed?

A. We normally begin repairs within 24 hours of receiving the vehicle. The completion of the repairs is determined by when the parts are delivered. Repairs requiring no parts are normally completed within 48 hours.

Q. I want to get my car repainted. The body is in good shape, but the paint has lost its shine.  What does your basic overall paint job cost?

A. The fact that your paint has lost its luster does not necessarily mean it has to be repainted. A paint sealant may be the answer to your problem. A paint sealant always enhances the value of your vehicle whereas some "economy" paint jobs may actually diminish the value of your vehicle. In the event that the car does need to be repainted, a reasonable price starts at $1,500 for a paint job comparable to the original factory paint.

Q. I recently had my car repaired and the paint from the repair does not match the rest of my car. Will I have to have my whole car repainted to have all of the paint match?

A. Probably not.  At MiCar Collision Center we guarantee to match your paint if it is original (factory paint) and in good condition.

Q. My insurance company suggested I take my car to a specific shop for my repairs.  I'm afraid that if I use a different shop my insurance company will not cover the repairs, what should I do?

A. Virginia law states you may use the shop of your choice. Your insurance company cannot require you to use "their" shop.  Take your car to the repair facility of your choice.

Q. I recently bought a brand new car. Does this car need a paint sealant and, if so, why?

A. Every vehicle on the road today needs a paint sealant. Government regulations have mandated the removal of lead from modern day paint, and this makes the paint more susceptible to damage from the environment. Also, environmental pollutants are much more prevalent today than in previous years. So yes, it is in your best interest to protect your vehicle's new paint by applying a paint sealant. Not only will the paint sealant we apply at MiCar Collision Center protect your paint from damage caused by acid rain, bird droppings, and tree sap, but it will also keep your paint shining like new.
